['naxr-; arabisch »Hundsfluss«], in der Antike Lỵkos [griechisch], kleiner Küstenfluss nördlich von Beirut, Libanon. Ein Vorgebirge an der Mündung des N. bildet einen strategisch wichtigen Engpass, der bereits im Altertum benutzt wurde. Dort befinden sich beschriftete Felsreliefs von Ramses II. und assyrischen Königen sowie Inschriften in griechischer, lateinischer und arabischer Sprache; die jüngste erinnert an den Abzug der letzten französischen und englischen Truppen am 31. 12. 1946.
